We see many details in the pages of this book: a houpa hanging on a satin ribbon from the branches of an old sycamore tree; Bil Reid, the archetypal pastor, uniting young lovers before God in the centre of the rose garden to the sound of its magical water features; the Rabbi jealously guarding his traditions; a henna ceremony in our Riyadh; the sermons of our parish clergyman sounding through the basket-handle vaults of Vallery Church.


The Château des Condés is first and foremost the Château de Vallery. Vallery, as a princedom, attracted many royal visitors. Vallery, as a village stronghold, remembers its history and celebrations, its passions and its sparkling lights that used to dance and dazzle and which can still be seen today, on certain evenings, hailing the star-studded Burgundy skies, and now hire room for wedding.


Myriad torches in the night are as many witnesses to the Château's experience in the art of entertaining: the generous traditions of the Orient witnessed in the Moroccan pavilion combine with the epitome of French style in the Renaissance wing. The result is a fairy tale: dreamlike, lyrical, pyrotechnical, romantic, allegorical, magical, poetic… in short, quite simply unique for a reception chateau in France.
